R&D Engineer (Advanced Composites)
About the Role
We are seeking an innovative R&D Engineer on behalf of a leading international protective equipment and advanced composite manufacturer based in Rayong. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in engineering next-generation, high-performance protective gear and composite structures distributed worldwide.
If you are excited by the challenge of transforming complex aerodynamic concepts and advanced materials into life-saving, production-ready products, this is an outstanding opportunity to accelerate your engineering career with a global industry leader.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Modeling: Lead end-to-end composite design, developing complex 3D surface and solid CAD models (SolidWorks or CATIA) for outer shells, multi-density impact liners, and mechanical mechanisms.
- Simulation & Analysis: Conduct structural FEA and dynamic impact simulations to optimize stress distribution and structural integrity prior to tooling.
- Material Testing: Perform material evaluations and Design of Experiments (DOE) on carbon fiber, fiberglass, aramid reinforcements, thermoset resins, and energy-absorbing polymer foams.
- Prototyping & Validation: Coordinate physical testing—including drop and penetration tests—to ensure compliance with international safety certifications (e.g., ECE, DOT).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with tooling, production, and quality teams to implement DFM/DFA principles, conduct root-cause analyses, and transition prototypes into serial production.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Polymer/Composite, or Aerospace Engineering.
- 2–5 years of hands-on R&D or design engineering experience within composite materials, automotive safety, sporting goods, or protective equipment.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD surface modeling (SolidWorks or CATIA) and practical experience with structural or dynamic FEA/CAE simulations.
- Solid technical understanding of composite manufacturing processes (e.g., prepreg layup, compression molding, resin infusion) and material characterization.
- Fluent Thai for on-site operations, with good English communication skills for technical documentation and international collaboration.
What We Offer
- Competitive Salary: 40,000 – 55,000 THB per month.
- Benefits: Comprehensive corporate benefits package.
- Career Growth: Direct exposure to global product development standards within a world-class manufacturing facility.
