Composite & Material Specialist
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Composite & Material Specialist on behalf of a leading international safety equipment manufacturer based in Rayong, Thailand.
In this pivotal technical role, you will serve as the plant’s primary authority on advanced resin chemistry, structural fiber reinforcements, and composite compression molding. You will work within a high-precision manufacturing facility to ensure outstanding product integrity, where defect-free production directly impacts critical safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Optimize chemical formulations for thermoset resins, gelcoats, hardeners, and fillers, aligning cure kinetics, glass transition temperatures, and rheology to compression molding cycles.
- Champion plant-wide defect reduction across molding and finishing operations, resolving anomalies such as micro-voids, porosity, delamination, and print-through.
- Direct mechanical, thermal, and chemical laboratory testing (including tensile, flexural, DMA/DSC, and drop-weight impact) to validate products against international regulatory standards.
- Utilize Design of Experiments (DoE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to define robust operating windows and optimal resin-to-fiber ratios.
- Lead 8D root-cause failure investigations and NDT evaluations, collaborating with quality, tooling, and production teams to execute corrective actions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- 7–10+ years of composite engineering or materials processing experience within safety products, automotive, motorsport, or aerospace manufacturing.
- In-depth expertise in thermoset matrix chemistries (epoxy, vinyl ester, polyester) and high-performance reinforcements (carbon fiber, aramid, multi-axial fabrics).
- Proven experience with structured problem-solving tools (8D, FMEA, DMAIC, DoE) and composite non-destructive testing (NDT).
- Professional working proficiency in English, with the ability to document technical reports and liaise with global engineering teams.
