Senior Textile Engineer (Sample Room)
About the Role
Our client, an established international manufacturer of high-performance protective gear, is seeking an experienced Senior Textile Engineer (Sample Room) to join their team in Rayong.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between initial design concepts and full-scale manufacturing. You will lead sample room workflows, engineer advanced soft-good components, and ensure all prototypes adhere to rigorous international standards for safety, ergonomics, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Sample Room Leadership & Prototyping: Direct daily sample room operations, supervising technicians and sample sewers to deliver high-precision prototype, pre-production, and fit-check samples on schedule.
- Pattern Engineering & Tech Packs: Develop and grade 2D/3D patterns and cutting markers using textile CAD tools; author detailed Tech Packs, Bills of Materials (BOM), and assembly instructions.
- New Product Introduction (NPI): Collaborate with R&D, tooling, and mass-production teams to seamlessly transition validated prototypes into pilot runs, resolving technical fit and assembly challenges.
- Material Testing & Evaluation: Assess technical fabrics, laminated foams, and performance textiles against safety regulations, durability, colorfastness, and elasticity requirements.
- Process Optimization: Identify optimal industrial sewing machinery, tooling jigs, and assembly methods, applying Lean principles to reduce scrap and improve manufacturing efficiency.
Requirements
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Garment/Apparel Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline, with 5+ years of experience in technical textiles, sample room coordination, or soft-goods manufacturing.
- Machinery & Pattern Making: Strong hands-on expertise with industrial sewing machinery (lockstitch, overlock, coverstitch, ultrasonic bonding), cutting systems, and flat pattern drafting/grading.
- CAD & Technical Documentation: Proficient with 2D/3D textile CAD software (e.g., Gerber, Lectra, Optitex, Clo3D, AutoCAD) and creating comprehensive Tech Packs/BOMs.
- NPI & Quality Standards: Solid understanding of NPI processes, textile physical testing protocols, and ISO 9001 quality frameworks.
- Location: Based in or able to commute/relocate to the manufacturing facility in Rayong.
