NPI Engineering Director
About the Role
Our client, a world-leading multinational electronics manufacturing solutions provider, is seeking an experienced NPI Engineering Director to lead New Product Introduction at their state-of-the-art facility in Chonburi, Thailand.
In this high-impact executive role, you will bridge global customer design teams and local advanced manufacturing operations, driving complex hardware platforms—powering next-generation AI and cloud infrastructure—from early prototypes to flawless, full-scale volume production.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic NPI Leadership: Direct the end-to-end NPI roadmap, managing phase-gate reviews and milestone transitions from EVT/DVT/PVT through mass production ramp.
- Design for Excellence (DFX): Partner directly with global enterprise OEM and hyperscale cloud design teams to drive upstream DFM, DFT, and DFX initiatives.
- Advanced Industrialisation: Steer technical capability development across high-density SMT, fine-pitch BGA, automated inspection (AOI/AXI), mechanical enclosures, and custom test fixtures.
- Quality & Statistical Governance: Spearhead APQP, PPAP, and PFMEA deployments while standardizing DOE and SPC matrices to achieve target process capabilities ($C_{pk} \ge 1.67$).
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as the primary technical escalation authority between customer program managers and plant operations while mentoring a high-performing engineering team.
Requirements
- Leadership Experience: 12+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience within electronics manufacturing services (EMS) or complex hardware manufacturing, including proven experience leading NPI teams at a Senior Manager or Director level.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of multi-layer PCBA manufacturing, modern high-speed SMT architectures, clean-room assembly, box-build, and system integration.
- Quality Methodologies: Extensive hands-on mastery of APQP, PFMEA, 8D problem-solving, IPC assembly standards, and Six Sigma DMAIC methodologies.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Communication & Location: Professional fluency in English with executive-level stakeholder management skills; able to commute daily to the facility in Chonburi, Thailand.
