Regional Application Engineer - Automation Sales

We are seeking a Regional Application Engineer - Automation Sales to serve as a key technical pre-sales authority across the Asia-Pacific region. Based out of central Bangkok, you will bridge the gap between regional sales teams, key distributors, utility end-users, and global engineering hubs. In this role, you will lead technical pre-sales architecture, drive automation tendering, deliver solution demonstrations, and facilitate project handovers—playing a central role in energy grid modernization and decarbonization initiatives across APAC.
Key Responsibilities
- Automation Tender Management: Lead the technical and commercial delivery of automation tenders, establishing workflows that streamline bid preparation and prioritize high-value opportunities.
- Technical Pre-Sales & Application Support: Provide high-level technical and commercial pre-sales support to regional sales teams and distributors for network automation products, RTUs, and SCADA solutions.
- Solution Architecture & Quotations: Design tailored technical solutions, build Bills of Materials (BOMs), and formulate accurate technical and commercial quotations for complex MV/LV distribution network enquiries.
- Client Interface & Negotiations: Support sales teams during client negotiations, presenting technical architecture and demonstrating product capabilities to utility engineers, consultants, and end-users.
- Product Demos & Training: Plan and execute live technical demonstrations of automation hardware and software, conducting structured training programs for internal teams, distributors, and clients.
- Cross-Regional Collaboration: Act as the regional engineering bridge between APAC client requirements and global design teams in the UK and India.
- Product Roadmap Feedback: Partner with Product Management and R&D teams to identify market needs for eco-switchgear, edge monitoring, and protection systems.
- Project Handover: Ensure smooth technical and commercial handovers of won automation projects from Sales to Project Execution teams.
Requirements
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field, alongside 3–5 years of hands-on experience in application engineering, pre-sales, or technical support within distribution network automation or electrical power sectors.
